Wordless Wednesday: Thumbs Up

Wordless Wednesday: Whatever

Still No House

So, pretty much everything is the same as it has been. Nothing new to report about the house situation. It looks as if we will not be getting that home I previously talked about. It sucks. Big time. I really love that house. I have been overly depressed this past week and had a mini break down. I screamed. I cried. I threw things. I thought for sure my head would explode. The what-I-think-is-a-stress-induced-headache has continued on for several weeks. No matter the amount of over-the-counter painkillers I pop it still remains. I have tried several different stress reducing techniques and nothing works.

I am still not giving up on the getting the hell out of here idea. It just seems like it will take me a little longer. Today, while driving to the store I saw a house with a “For Rent” sign. I grabbed my cell phone and called the number posted on the sign. The man on the other end of the line said he was sorry but the house was just rented. He did not even have the sign up for 24 hours and has to go take it down. That’s the problem I keep running into. The houses in my area are snatched up in a matter of hours. It would be nice to broaden my search but I do not want to take Raven out of this area. She will be starting high school this fall and even though it is technically a new school she will be entering high school with all her friends. My parents took me out of several schools and I always hated it. I do not want to do that to Raven. Especially when she has been with these other kids since kindergarten.

Besides all that crappiness, the outside cat I feed (we call her River) had 2 kittens which she is now bringing around. They are adorable and I (of course) want to keep them. One is striped (just like River) and the other one is black. I think the black kitten is a girl and the striped kitten is a boy. And because cats make me happy, I will leave you with pictures of the kittens.

Christmas Wrap Up

My Christmas was a pleasant one. Nothing exciting happened and — thank God — nothing dreadful did either. The day before Christmas Eve, I spent it baking holiday goodies as presents for a few family members. Maple sugar cookies, peanut butter blossoms and cookies n’ cream fudge is what I filled the Christmas tins with this year.

On Christmas Eve, we headed down to my Mom and Nan’s house for a few hours. Since my Nan is not doing well, they opted out of having their annual Christmas Eve party but wanted to make sure we came down to get our gifts and spend some time with Nan. After a few hours, we headed down to Mike’s Dad and Grandpa’s house. We ate, bullshited and exchanged gifts and then headed back home. That night we spent watching various movies and tv shows and pretty much just relaxed. Raven went to bed at about midnight and I was not up long after that. I placed the gifts under the tree, filled the stockings and went to bed.

I woke up at a few minutes before 8am. I went to see if Raven was awake yet and (of course) she was. She was on her computer, liking a variety of pages on Facebook and waiting until we awoke. After unwrapping her gifts, Mike unwrapped his, I unwrapped mine and Jedi and London unwrapped theirs.  Actually, we had to help them unwrap theirs.

Raven got one of her favorite movies on DVD. The Taste of Tea.

Jedi playing with his Christmas catnip mouse that he got in his stocking.

London loving his new raccoon stuffed animal with a crinkly tail and squeaky appendages.

I got a Kitchen Ninja from my Mom and Nan. Five awesome drawings from my oh so talented daughter. Labyrinth t-shirt, Princess Bride DVD, new camera case that looks like a backpack and kitty cat earrings from my husband. And money from various family members. All in all it was a delightful holiday. How was everyone else’s holiday?

30DBC – Day 01

Day 1 – A photo of yourself and a description of how your day was.

My day was a pretty uneventful one. Same shit, different day. The stray kitten I have been feeding for the past 2 weeks has not been seen for over 24 hours. His mom and dad are still around and I am still feeding them but the kitten is no where to be seen. He is still nursing so I highly doubt River (what we call his mom) would leave him alone. We looked all over for him and even checked the roads just in case (God forbid) he got hit by a car but haven’t seen any sign of him. I am hoping someone took him and not the alternative scenarios that could of happened.
