Blog Challenge Day 01

Ashley over at Neoncinema.org is having a 10-day blog challenge and I decided to give it a try. Here is my Day 1 submission.

Day 1: What is your favorite band? Why? What are some of your favorite songs by them?

This one is hard for me because I have two favorite bands. The first one is The Beatles. Even though I listened to them off and on growing up (thanks to my parents), they did not become my favorite until I started dating my husband. He was big into The Beatles (especially John Lennon) and every song he played of theirs I loved. I could listen to them for hours and never skip over a song. My husband and I even married on John Lennon’s death date (December 8th) and played nothing but songs by The Beatles (or John Lennon) during the wedding and receptionist; and our first dance was to John Lennon’s version of Only You. Now a days, I do not listen to them as much as I use to but they will always be my favorite band.

The Ramones are tied with The Beatles as my favorite band. The Ramones captured my heart back in 1994 when I was barely 14. When I heard their song I Wanna Be Sedated, I was instantly memorized by their fast guitar riffs and lyrics that sucked me in. I could not get enough of them and always had them playing in my headphones. Johnny was/is my favorite member. I prefer Dee Dee over CJ on bass and Marky over Tommy on drums. My all-time favorite song from The Ramones is Judy is a Punk. I was crushed when Joey passed in 2001 and then Dee Dee followed suit in 2002. When I learned that Johnny lost his battle with cancer in 2004, I was not only saddened by the fact that he left this earth but also because one more king from the kings of punk was gone forever.

Why Is A Raven Like A Writing Desk

Anyone who truly knows me knows my love for most things Alice in Wonderland. I have always loved the whole idea of going on an adventure like that and getting away from your crappy life. The funny thing is that people who think they know me think I love Peter Pan and the whole Tinkerbell scene and that can not be farther from the truth. Don’t get me wrong, I like the Peter Pan movies and stories and Tinkerbell and fairies are wonderful. But they just don’t hold the same kind of magic for me as Alice in Wonderland. Anywho, I finally got to watch SyFy’s retailing of the Lewis Carroll classic, simply titled Alice. And I loved it. L O V E D it! I even changed my layout to feature Hatter (portrayed by the oh so hot Andrew Lee Potts) cause he is just so damn adorable!  By the way, Raven hates it when I ask her why a raven is like a writing desk. :)
